2010 Chirac
Bright gold in colour with a complex savoury bouquet supporting underlying zesty Chardonnay and Pinot Noir fruit throughout its delicious palate, this richly flavoured Chirac was disgorged after 150 months on lees. The fine-textured, persistent mousse and lively flavours throughout complete the long and balanced mouth feel of this classic Chirac. Enjoy the savoury freshness and savour the richness of texture so much a part of this unique wine.
2021 Riesling
Luminous green gold in colour, our Riesling vineyard’s typical honeysuckle, spicy citrus and talc underpins the gloriously floral bouquet and line of this finely balanced wine. Finishing satisfyingly dry and savoury, the typical juicy minerality and compelling fruit of this wine will supply enormous enjoyment with careful cellaring well into the medium term.
2022 Chardonnay
Bright green-gold in colour, this Chardonnay, through its honey dew melon and chalky aromatics, displays a mealy-textured, generously soft palate of nectarine and melon fruit notes. And yet, after all the subtle minerality and deliciousness so typical of our old Chardonnay vineyard, there remains a refreshingly bright presence at the absence of this wine.
2022 Schubert
Crisp green-gold in colour with an enticing bouquet of peach flower and gentle oak-infused citrus, this wine’s complex, mealy texture has been enhanced through gentle fermentation and maturation in fine quality 100% new French oak hogsheads. The brightly balanced, satisfying mouth-feel remains an emblematic element of the delicate power of this unique Bloodwood style. Medium term cellaring will only reward your patience.
2022 Big Men in Tights
About the colour of an IPCC PowerPoint prediction on the future for humanity, this off-the-pie-chart pink promises a metaphysical meditation on the pleasures of cranberry and cream aromatics in an atmosphere of whole-bunch pressed Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Wholly man-made and inevitable vintage upon vintage, chilling a couple of degrees will leave a better taste in the mouth for everyone concerned.
2017 Merlot Noir
Dark cerise in colour, the juicy plum notes and fleshy black cherry palate of this wine is savoury smooth and bright to the core.
Two years in mostly older fine grained French oak have given this wine the length and integration we look for in our Bloodwood Merlot Noir
2017 Cabernet Franc
Parent material for Merlot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon
More hard grown and riper than its Loire counterparts, lifted aromatics.
Spicy bright red berry fruits, dusty raspberry blossom with fine grained tannins
Serve with Middle Eastern spiced lamb or veg recipes -refer Ottolenghi
2018 Pinot Noir
Bloodwood Pinot Noir is very sensitive and is the most responsive of all our grapes to varying weather conditions. Each year’s climate yields a slightly different emphasis, flavour profile and mouth-feel; however, all have or develop a distinctive Pinosity. Ours is of a lady’s old handbag; a bit of perfume, lipstick and worn leather. Our Pinot is richer than the lightweight pretty style but not as rich as Central Otago NZ. Check these differences out and see if they are just right for you.
2018 Shiraz
Deep purple-red in colour, the spicy plum and black cherry notes from this vineyard combine well with a touch of cocoa-infused soy and gentle sweet licorice in the bouquet. This leads on to a perfectly balanced yet persistent mid-weight palate of cassis, spice, and finely integrated French oak tannins. Medium-term cellaring will only increase your enjoyment of this pure expression of cool climate Bloodwood Shiraz.
2018 Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark carmine plum in colour, a complex bouquet of cedary dark fruits and vanillan char announce this wine’s balanced, black-currant infused palate supported by integrated, very fine-grained French oak tannins. The perfectly poised mouth-feel and structure of this finely textured Cabernet Sauvignon suggests medium term cellaring will only add to your immediate enjoyment of this fine wine.
2019 Maurice
Deep crimson in colour, the fine lifted bouquet of red fruits and blackcurrants tending towards dark chocolate complement hints of vanillin char from extended gentle maturation in tight grained French oak hogsheads. Savoury black berries and spice suffuse a long textured, well balanced fleshy palate of lively black fruit and graceful integrated tannins. Careful medium term cellaring will add to your enjoyment of this fine wine.
2022 Silk Purse
Light green gold in colour, this gentle sweetie shows spicy citrus and lemon curd aromas supporting a silky mouth-feel which finishes with juicy acidity. Typical tangy honeysuckle and talc across the palate of this super late picked, lightly botrytised Bloodwood Riesling will provide excellent current enjoyment. However, some patience in your cellar will add to the enjoyment of this wine.
